Another quest-like thing

By Firstchild, dreamt on May 1, 2002

I'm a middle-age man and start off in a large desert. Rocky and sandy, the desert is. In the distance I see large metal things like those which come from generators to transfer electricity. Behind me is a small wooden cottage in a pretty bad shape. An old man (or woman) tells me that the kids have disappeared and I should go after them. I do not feel very good about it, but I start going.
Just a few feet from the house there's a large and deep hole, cut out in brick-shape. I manage not to fall in and I spot a smaller, two feet wide hole. Two vultures appear, one of them flying low and around that hole, so I figure the kids (whoever they are) must be down there. I get a large plank but not from wood but something else and make the vulture fly into it. Its beak gets stuck, so I can descend into the hole.
I wind up in some sort of large alien factory and meet its large alien leader who does not like me (the dialogue, again, is forgotten).
I climb up to the top of the factory where the pills they make come out from a machine and run on conveyor belts. These large pills are in small transparent containers, like in which medicine is kept. If I push a pill, it changes color and starts blinking. I push a lot of pills, which go further down into the factory on the conveyor belts. I hear the leader of the factory groan and moan so I figure he doesn't like what I was doing.
I see a door nearby so I enter. There's a technician woman there who seems to know me. She tells me how to escape. I tell her that I must not go for I have to save my friend who is still locked in (that's strange, before I was looking for children, wasn't I?), because he has been my friend for many years. I see his image before me - a man with short black hair in red clothes, the same age as I am in the dream.
The technician tells me that there are many humans working in this factory, all of whom were captured by the alien guy. I run down some stairs (I don't know where those came from) to see lots of corridors and levels. After a few levels I spot a woman who enters a room (her own room) where she says, "I'm sorry I am late." Then, a computer voice says, "You've been late too many times", and the woman gets shot. Somehow I get to know that this woman was helping the friend I was looking for escape, that's why she was late, so she practically sacrificed herself.
Arriving at the control room again, the technician woman from before tells me where to go. I jump out the window, and fall 60 feet (20 metres) into a large mass of water. Lots of man-eating fish attack me at a rapid speed. From this it turns into something like a FPS (First Person Shooter - the kind of computer game like Doom, Quake or Duke Nukem 3D). I get a grenade-shooting gun from my pocket and start shooting the evil fish. It works. Now comes a large snake, at least 15 feet long (5 metres). I also manage to shoot it down. Then I get out of the water and start to run.
Meanwhile, the factory's leader decides that now that I have managed to escaped and ruined the pills he made, he's going to self-destruct the whole factory. Then I seem to be in the place of the technician woman because I find myself in the control room again. Opening another door I see a touch-screen monitor, on which you can adjust the amount of explosives taking part in the self-destruction. The monitor shows that there are lots of nuclear explosives which can be used (why do I keep dreaming with explosives?). The explosives can be triggered by clicking on them. To trick the factory's leader, I set the explosion to a 750 megaton one (I don't know what that means but it's not a July 4 firework) and save this data to disk (it seems that the alien factory runs on Windows :), and when the leader says "Fire" I'll quickly erase the data so that there will be a minimal explosion.
We would have been getting into the exciting part, but I woke up.

Comments: Well, I really think that most of this dream (especially the last third) is a product of my brain. When I woke up it was noon, and it's almost a rule that if you sleep during daytime you dream about stupid things. Too bad I didn't get to see the ending, but I always do that. It's really annoying when it's a crime story.
