OASIS Lyrics, Written, Sung by: Gackt Camui
Translated by: Mina-P (Email: Minako@senshigakuen.com)
Version 2.20
Note: The eleventh song from Gackt's amazing Mars album, although it's
also technically the same lyrics on his Oasis single, as well. I'll have
to admit, this wasn't my favorite song of Gackt's at first. I mean, I thought
it was good, very very good of course, but it wasn't necessarily my favorite Gackt
piece. That all changed when I saw his video of the live performance. That being
said, it was simply astounding. His band was incredible (Ren actually plays that
great the bass line on a standing bass; You was playing something that we still
can't figure out; Masa nearly went up in flames thanks to the pyrotechnics), and
Gackt was breathtakingly amazing. Now, I can't get enough of the song. It's one
of those things where, once I was whacked over the head with how good it is, I
went back and can't listen to it without pondering how remarkably well-constructed
this song is. In short: I adore Oasis. [cough] On with the translation.
yukkuri to yo ga akeru made kimi o dakishimeteta
nanimokamo ushinau made kizukazu ni yasuragi ni oboreteta
Until the night slowly ended, I was embracing you
Until I lose everything, without noticing I was being drowned in silence
"itaisa..."
izen no jibun nara kutsuu ni kao o yugamaseteta
ima nara kono itami ni sae yasashisa o oboeru
"It's painful... "
If it had been my former self, my face would have been distorted in agony
(1)
If it's now, even this pain remembers kindness
eien ni maboroshi ni dakareru yori
hitotoki de mo jiyuu o erabu
More than eternally
embracing an illusion In a moment I'd choose freedom
tsubasa o hiroge sora e habataite
yakareru mae ni taiyou ni nare
kaze yo fuke... sora e michibiite
kimi no subete o ubawareru mae ni
Unfold your wings and take off into the sky
Before you're burned, become the sun
The wind blows... It guides you into the sky
Before your whole self is taken away
tooi kako ni ikitsuzukeru utsuroge na kimi ga iru
itsumademo ugokanai no nara kirisakarereba ii
Continuing to live in the far off past is your hollow self
If you're forever unmoved, is it all right that you'll get torn to pieces
sashinoberu kono ude o tsukameru nara hitorikiri demo
kimi wa mada waraeru
If you can seize my outstretched arms, then even if you're alone
You can still smile
kousa o abite sora e maiagare
tsuyoku kagayaku taiyou ni nare
kaze ni nore...
ryoute o hirogete
kimi no subete o kowasaru mae ni
Bask in the golden sands and soar into the sky
Become the brilliantly shining sun
Ride the wind... Spread both of your hands
In order to find your whole self
furueru kimi dare no tame ni ikiru no?
"mitsukeru dame..."
subete o shinjite
You're shivering
Who do you live for?
"Don't look..."
Believe in everything (2)
tsubasa o hiroge sora e habataite
yakareru mae ni taiyou ni nare
kaze yo fuke...
sora e michibiite
kimi no subete o ubawareru mae ni
Unfold your wings and take off into the sky
Before you're burned, become the sun
The wind blows... It guides you into the sky
Before your whole self is taken away
kousa o abite sora e maiagare
tsuyoku kagayaku taiyou ni nare
kaze ni nore...
ryoute o hirogete
kimi no subete o te ni ireru tame ni
Bask in the golden sands and soar into the sky
Become the brilliantly shining
sun
Ride the wind... Spread both of your hands
In order to find your whole self
(1) In one of the smaller and more pointless notes, Gackt sings
izen (formerly) while the written word is kako (past). Basically
the same although I suppose izen is more of a specific point in the past
than just saying kako.
(2) While the kanji says kiseki (miracles), he sings the
word subete (everything). For some reason my brain automatically makes
the connection that, therefore, everything must be a miracle. Don't know if that's
what Gackt meant to imply, but hm.
Lyrics belong to Gackt Camui and Nippon Crown, taken from the Mars album,
CRCP-20239 (track 11) or the Oasis single, CRCP-40 (track 1). Not like the words
make any sense if you haven't heard the song, anyway. Romanized and translated
into English very badly by Mina-P, with desperately needed help, as always, by
Mako-chan. Any comments or corrections can be mailed to Mina-P at Minako@senshigakuen.com.
